VectorCite is a product of Digiocular, Manila, Metro Manila, Philippines. This page explains what we collect when you use VectorCite, why, and how to have it removed. Questions or requests: digiocular@gmail.com.

Free audits and tools

  • We store the URL and question you submit, your email if you give one, and the result.
  • We send your question to Anthropic's Claude API, which searches the web and answers it. The answer and the pages it cites are stored with the audit and shown on its public page.
  • To compare pages we send your question and passages of public page text to Google's Gemini API, which turns them into embeddings. Under Google's terms for its free tier, Google may use that content to improve its products, and its reviewers may read it.
  • Audit results are public. Each audit gets a shareable page, and recent audits appear in a public feed (hostname only). Don't submit anything private.
  • To run an audit we fetch the page you submit and the pages it's compared against, as VectorCiteBot, honouring robots.txt.
  • We store the first 256 characters of your browser's user-agent string with an audit.

Your IP address

  • To enforce daily limits we store a keyed hash of your IP address (HMAC-SHA-256 with a server secret), not the address itself.
  • Our rate limiter keeps your IP address in short-lived counters that expire within 24 hours, and our hosting provider's logs may record it.

Accounts

  • Your email, your password (stored only as a scrypt hash), your plan status and usage.
  • The pages and questions you choose to monitor, and their results.
  • API keys you add for your own AI engines are encrypted at rest and used only for your requests.

Cookies and analytics

  • One cookie, and only when you sign in: __Host-vc_session, HttpOnly, expires after 12 hours. No advertising cookies.
  • We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights. They set no cookies: Vercel identifies a visit by a hash of the request that it discards after 24 hours, and we see only aggregate figures (page, referrer, country or city, device type, browser). Our embeddable widgets are not counted.

Who processes your data

  • Vercel (hosting, logs, analytics), Neon (database) and Upstash (rate limiting and job queue).
  • AI providers, when a feature you use calls them (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Perplexity): they receive the page content and question needed for that analysis.
  • DuckDuckGo, Wikipedia and Wikidata receive search queries made for an audit.
  • Razorpay, if you buy a paid plan, processes your payment.

We don't sell personal data.

How long we keep it

  • Audits stay up until you ask us to remove them.
  • Rate-limit counters expire within 24 hours.
  • Account data is kept while your account is open and deleted when you ask, except records we must keep for payments.

Your choices

Email digiocular@gmail.com to see, correct or delete your data, or to take down a public audit of your site. VectorCite is not directed at children.
